here is the photograph called Wall Corner.
i am still not sure if i like the look of only having 1 row of photographs. i will redo this over the weekend and include 2 rows of photographs and i will see how it compares.
well with school back in i will be posting more and talking about my thought process for each piece.
for this week i will be redoing the wall corner piece. i will set up 2 lights at about 30 degrees off the wall corner and have them paced about 6 feet from the corner its self. i will have one light on full power and the other one at 1/4 power. the camera will be at about 90 degrees from the corner.
the one thing i will be doing different in this shoot is i will be centering the wall corner on the photographs and i will be taking the photographs in one line from floor to ceiling.
The idea behind this photograph is a me as a small child being being told to go stand in the corner for X amount of time because i got in trouble doing something. and from what i remember this was mostly at my grandmothers house in Daily City, California.
i will be doing the shoot later tonight and i will post what it looks like later.
After printing photograph out at full size I noticed a few problems.
1) the small 2 by 3 pieces look wrong. Need to have each piece look separate and they do not. Need to play with layer style formate to get correct look.
2) the hand that was holding the camera remote looks strange hanging in mid air with out the arm plus one can easily see the remote. The fix will be to remove the hand.
3) the back part of the big figure is all wrong. Need to recut out person and pay close attention to the. Edges.
4) need to figure out how to change the image so the windows do not show the house but a driving image or to blur out the windows so it looks like I was driving.
Here is the photo for Learn 2 Drive. The photo shoot came off with out any problems. The only problem I found was when I was laying out the photographs to make the photomontage for some reason the finished image looks like the camera was taking photos from 2 different planes even though the camera never moved and the lens was never changed.
the 5th photo for my thesis I will be working on tonight is called Learning to Drive. the reason and story behind the image is from when i was about 10 or so my father put me on his lap during a road trip and he let me steer the truck for a while.
the way this photo will come together is as follows.
camera to use will be the D90, use tripod, use all 3 lenses. 50 mm to take photo of me at wheel, zoom lens for photomontage, micro lens for close up part of photomontage. the part close to the passenger door.
size finished photo to be 20 by 24 inches. adjust curve of overall photo to make photo pop.
over the past semester at AAU i have had a hard time nailing down what my Masters Thesis will be. only in the past 3 weeks have i nailed down my idea and the idea has the needed depth in idea and photography skill needed to pass the Midpoint Review Committee. this is the committee one must present ones thesis idea to in order to get approval of idea and to be able to move on.
the idea i cam up with for me seems to be a simple but complicated idea. i will use my inner child voice to recreate some of my childhood memories. the inner child voice will use the style of photomontage to accomplish this task.
Wall Conner
Hand Scare
Hot Mouth
These three photos are the basic idea i have for the thesis.
The things i will change on each photo when i redo them is the following. On Wall Corner i will do a photomotage of the wall and change the wall to black and white except for the corner. this will make the corner pop on the finished photo.
On Hand Scare i will make the photomontage of the knife bigger and get a better image of the hand scare. other then these two items photo idea is good.
On Hot Mouth the only thing i might change/add would be to capture some smoke and added it to the sides of the tong. the other idea i had was to apply a style effect to the black and white part to make it look like a child colored it. this last part is just an after thought and i will have to play around some to see how it looks.
i would like to welcome you to my new blog. this blog will be a little different from most blogs for the following reasons.
so with the above information i would like to say welcome to the journey that will be my photography art projects.
